Government-Funded Home Care Made Simple
We're approved to deliver Alberta Health Services funding. You choose us. We handle the paperwork.
What Does CDHCI Mean?
CDHCI stands for Client Directed Home Care Invoicing. In plain language: it's Alberta's way of letting you choose your own home care provider while the government pays for it.
Normally, Alberta Health Services assigns you a home care provider and manages your schedule. With CDHCI, you have a choice. You pick which home care company comes to your home, when they come, and what services they provide — all while the government covers the cost.
The Benefits for Families:
✓ You choose your care provider (instead of the government assigning one)
✓ You pick your caregivers and schedule
✓ All care is government-funded (if you qualify)
✓ We handle all the billing and paperwork — direct to Alberta Health Services
✓ You get consistent caregivers, not rotating staff
✓ You can change providers anytime if you want to
Do You Qualify for CDHCI?
You may be eligible if you:
✓ Live in Alberta permanently
✓ Have a valid Alberta Health Care Card
✓ Have been assessed by an Alberta Health Services home care case manager
✓ Have been approved for home care services
✓ Live in your own home (not in a group home or facility)
✓ Are able to self-direct your care (or have family to help)
You do NOT need a doctor's referral to request an assessment.
Next Step: Contact Alberta Health Services to request a home care assessment. They'll evaluate your needs and tell you if you qualify.
Why Families Choose Our Nurse-Owned Agency
We're not just any home care provider. We're nurse-owned and operated — which means:
Professional Oversight
A nurse manages your care plan. You're not just getting a caregiver; you're getting clinical expertise and accountability.
Experience With Government Funding
We're registered with Alberta Blue Cross and approved for CDHCI billing. We know the system. We handle all the paperwork so you don't have to.
Consistent Caregivers
We don't rotate random staff. You get a dedicated care team that knows you, your routine, and your preferences.
We Handle the Admin
You approve your care plan. We handle scheduling, billing, coverage, and all communication with Alberta Health Services. You focus on your health.
Culturally Responsive Care
We serve families from many backgrounds. If you need a caregiver who speaks your language or understands your cultural preferences, we can help.
Flexible Services
Whether you need help with bathing, dressing, mobility, medications, or just companionship — we customize your care to fit your life.
How to Get Started With CDHCI Care
STEP 1: Request a Home Care Assessment
Call Alberta Health Services and ask for a home care assessment. They'll:
• Evaluate your health needs
• Determine what care you qualify for
• Approve your funding amount and hours
• Send you a "Letter of Agreement" with your details
(This typically takes 1-4 weeks depending on your area)
STEP 2: Choose Us as Your Provider
Once you're approved, you'll receive a list of approved CDHCI providers. Choose us. Contact us and let us know you'd like to use your CDHCI funding with our agency.
STEP 3: We Create Your Care Plan (We Handle This)
You meet with our nurse to discuss:
• What help you need (bathing, meals, mobility, medication management, etc.)
• Your schedule and preferences
• Any special health needs we should know about
• Your caregiver preferences
STEP 4: We Schedule and Hire Your Caregivers (We Handle This)
We find and hire qualified, trained caregivers who fit your needs. You meet them. You approve. We do background checks and training.
STEP 5: Care Starts — We Handle All the Billing (We Handle This)
Your caregiver arrives. You receive the care you approved. Alberta Health Services pays us directly. You never see an invoice or worry about billing.
STEP 6: Ongoing Support (We're Always Here)
Our nurse checks in regularly. If you need schedule changes, caregiver swaps, or adjustments to your care plan — we handle it.

How Much Does CDHCI Cost?
Alberta Health Services approves a certain number of care hours and sets an hourly rate. You pay nothing out of pocket if you're within your approved hours and funding amount.
Example: If AHS approves you for 20 hours per month at the approved rate, we bill Alberta Health Services directly. You don't pay us anything.
What if you want MORE care than your funding covers? You can purchase additional hours at our standard private-pay rate. We'll discuss pricing when we meet.
No Surprises: You'll always know exactly how many approved hours you have per month, the hourly rate AHS is paying, whether you're within your funding, and any out-of-pocket costs before we bill you.
